The Rallye Monte Carlo Classique was for special interest road legal cars built from 1911 to 1965. In this even there was an overall time schedule with controls, but no time penalties. The challenge of this event was to check in at all the controls and to reach the Finish in Monaco. It followed most of the route of the Historique but arrived in Monaco ahead of the Rallye. It was a challenging event in an old car, particularly if the weather was snowy. Some crews have found it to be a good ‘stepping stone’ to the Historique.
The Automobile Club de Monaco have decided that in 2023 these very early cars will be part of the Rallye Monte Carlo Historique in the class for the earliest cars. This will give competitors the opportunity to undertake the whole Historique Rallye.
They have also indicated that there may be a separate Classique to celebrate special anniversaries and we look forward to hearing what these will be.
